White River Watershed Strategic Plan

Mission: To protect the unique characteristics and the natural resources of the White River Watershed by promoting education, conservation, restoration, and preservation activities.

 

Strategic Plan Outline

 

Goal 1:            We will have an active membership in all subwatersheds

                        Task 1: Develop an outreach strategy to increase membership.

                        Task 2: Evaluate and implement an Adopt-a-Stream program.

 

Goal 2:            We will have an active education program for the WRWP.

                        Task 1: Develop and maintain a newsletter fro the web and distribute to members of the WRWP.

                        Task 2: Develop web-based resources

                        Task 3: Continue to hold and increase the WRWP annual Watershed Day.

                        Task 4: Develop “Speakers Bureau” for the WRWP board.

                        Task 5: Develop a “New Construction” packet and make available on the WRWP web site.

 

Goal 3:            We will have sufficient income to support the goals and strategies of the WRWP.

                              Task 1: Writ and receive grants.

                        Task 2: Access endowment funds.

                        Task 3: Increase membership.

                        Task 4: Develop and implement fundraising strategies.

                        Task 5: Hold an annual fundraising event.

 

Goal 4:            We will have a Watershed Management Plan.

                        Task 1: Establish a Watershed Management Plan development and implementation committee.

                        Task 2: Review and utilize MDEQ’s model for watershed management planning.

 

Goal 5:            We will have productive/collaborative partnerships with federal and state agencies, local unit of government,

                        conservation organizations, and others.

                              Task 1: Develop WRWP policy on watershed issues.

                        Task 2: Identify and engage partners.

                        Task 3: Exchange and share information and data with partners.

 

Goal 6:            We will have staff to promote/sustain the WRWP.

                        Task 1: Develop and carry out an internship program.

                        Task 2: Establish a personnel committee.
